* Note: Vincent Bach used the trade names of Stradivarius, Mercedes, Mercury, Minerva, & Apollo. For some unknown reason, Bach numerical order varies from time to time. For example, in 1928 the Apollo serial numbers were 8600 - 8700. In 1939 the Mercury models had serial numbers in the 10,000's. The first Minerva (#2722) was manufactured in 1958.

Hello, I have a Bach Strad with serial number 24XXX with Mt. Vernon stamped on the valve block. The bell is stamped with the elkhart indiana bach stamp, and was clearly not originally built with the horn because of soldering marks. I was wondering where the trumpet was actually produced during the transitional period in 1964? Thanks.

Trumpets will usually have a serial number on either side of their center valve. Depending on the brand, the serial number can tell you when or where the trumpet was made, allowing you to determine its vintage status and age. It also proves that it is a legitimate trumpet from that company.
If you are in the market for a historic trumpet and want to make sure that you are getting the real thing, research the serial numbers of the brand you are buying and cross-check that with the serial number on the instrument. 2ff7e9595c
